Hello Everyone and welcome back to another post! I am sure you have already seen that animal print is big again this year. Animal print has been big in history as a status symbol and a sign of wealth. It has appeared in fashion off and on over the years. In this post, we are going to discuss different ways you can easily wear Animal Print this Fall.

How to wear Animal Print this Fall: Print and Cold Weather

This year for spring and summer, we saw animal print paired with neon pieces. With both animal print and neon offering bold statements on their own, I have opted to avoid the animal print trend until we head back into the cold weather. This is only because I prefer to not stand out too much and cannot comfortably pull the combination off yet. I love the warm weather and how you can effortlessly get away with wearing bohemian styles, but I have also been saving a specific piece to wear as we approach fall.

For some reason, I associate animal print in fashion with colder weather. It is likely due to the darker shades and possibly the fact that when I think of animals, the softness and warmth of their fur comes to mind. Animal print, thankfully, is not so much fur these days as it is usually just a printed article of clothing that one might throw on for any occasion.

How to wear Animal Print this Fall: The Leopard Print Dress

The dress that is featured in this article is one I purchased years ago. This piece is from 2008. This dress has been in my closet for 10 years with the intention of wearing it someday and without actually wearing it once. I wouldn’t give it up because I loved it so much. I was, however, concerned about drawing extra attention to myself. It was saved for a special occasion, but every time such an occasion came up there was a reason not to wear it.

I now see this dress as perfect for heading into the colder weather. For now, while it is still warm, it is worn on its own with any shoes. As it cools down, I would pair it with a sweater or light trench coat.  It will look great with tights and/or boots with a denim or motorcycle jacket once the temperature drops significantly. I have started to see this piece as understated compared with the neon and animal-print combinations. There are, however, more subtle ways you can pull this trend off.

How to wear Animal Print this Fall: Treat it as a Basic

This year we have seen these pieces worn more as basics than as statement pieces. I appreciate the animal print trend, even more, when it is part of a small accessory or on some footwear. Small pieces are the best way to treat the animal print trend as basics. You can add an animal print scarf to your hair or handbag, or pick one up to wear around your neck. These ones from Etsy look like beautiful options.

Throw on some animal print mules, kicks, pumps, or boots. Aldo has great options for this. They even have a Leopard print section on their site.  Some of them even remind me of Meridith Grey’s flats on that one episode where she wore the same shoes a patient was wearing back in the early days of Grey’s Anatomy. I watched that years ago, and for some reason, those shoes still stand out in my mind. Pick up a purse with some animal print on it and you will be able to rock this trend with ease, confidence and nearly any outfit you imagine.

How to wear Animal Print this Fall: Expression in Fashion

I would say that while these animal patterns in fashion started out as a status symbol, they now exist as another great way to express yourself. There are many different options for items you can add to your wardrobe within various price ranges. In this way, it is less about cost and more about confidence and expressing our creativity.

Before I sign off here, I wanted to ask how do you wear your animal print? Do you prefer the bold styles with lots of bright colours mixed in? Maybe you would rather wear it as the boldest piece in your outfit? Do you wear accessories to incorporate this trend subtly into your everyday life? Is it one of those trends that you don’t ever see yourself attempting? Check out our post on a pair of stunning and comfortable snake-print loafers here if you are looking for more ways to rock this trend.
